Portland Oregon is one of the most beautiful cities in the United States.  Nicknamed "The Rose City".   Nestled along the Willamette River it displays seven bridges right in the heart of downtown.  To the west you have spectacular high rises, modern and old historic buildings scattered throughout.  In the background you will see a hillside with a forest of trees.  To the east you will see the sparkling Willamette River on a sunny day with Mt. Hood and Mt. Saint Helens in the distance.

Portland has something for everyone whether it be enjoying the outdoor recreation biking, hiking, running or walking through downtowns Saturday market or a stroll through one of Portland most famous Washington Park that is home of the Rose Garden,  Japanese Gardens, Zoo and so much more.  Cultural, diverse with many theaters, museums art galleries throughout the metropolitan area.

In the center of downtown you will find Pioneer Square which is called the "Livingroom".  Over 26,000 people pass through everyday whether it is to have a sack lunch visit the local starbucks, play chess or listen to music. It also is the host of many performances both local and national making it one of the most famous gathering places.

The city is divided in four areas which makes it easy to navigate.  Northwest, Southwest, Southeast and Northeast.  (there is also North which I will show you later how that is navigated in corelation to the city.  But for now just think four) The city is divided by the Willamette River which seperates east from west.  Transportation is award winning in Portland with Max (train) and Tri Met (bus) you are able to go from one to the other connecting throughout the city.  Another perk is that you can even take your bike with you on both.  The city is full of bike paths making it truly a cycle friendly city.  One of the things I enjoy most is going into downtown at rush hour and litterly seeing hundreds of comuters on their bikes.  It reminds me of Europe.

These are just a few reasons that make Portland one of the most beautiful places to live or visit.
