The Pearl District

Lofts, Condos, coffee shops, art galleries, shops and restraunts.  New buildings were built where old could not be restored.  Some of the buildings have been built using sustainable materials.   The pearl is home to upscale shopping, antiques, art, furniture, lighting and clothing.  Powells book store is also located in the Pearl District which is the largest book store in the United States that takes up an entire city block.  They sell new and used books.  Here you will also find some of the rarest books from all over the world. 

On the first thursday of the month the art galleries open there doors to patrons to see the latest art on display offering wine and appetizers.  Vendors line the streets trying to sell there latest creations as well. 

This area is a bit higher in price due to the how close it is in vincinity to downtown.
